What you get on day one
Pick India when you create the business. Everything below is seeded for you and editable in Settings.
- GST rates seeded. 0%, 5%, 18% and 40% slabs, each as CGST and SGST for a sale inside your state or IGST for one outside it.
- Tax Invoice with your GSTIN. The GSTIN is checked for format when you enter it and printed on every invoice, with HSN/SAC on every line.
- INR amounts, DD/MM/YYYY dates. A total prints as ₹12,50,000.00, in words as rupees and paise.
- An April to March financial year. Numbering runs per year: the first invoice is INV-2026-27-0001.
- Payroll components ready. Basic, House Rent Allowance, Conveyance Allowance, Special Allowance, Bonus, Provident Fund (Employee), Professional Tax, Income Tax (TDS) and Provident Fund (Employer).
- Phones with +91. Customer, supplier and employee numbers take the +91 format; you and your team sign in with your email.

GST in India
GST in India: what you need to know
The rules the product is set up around, in plain words. Your accountant confirms what applies to you. Sources: CBIC: GST, GST Council, CBIC tax information portal: Central Tax (Rate) notifications 9/2025, 14/2025, 19/2025, e-Invoice portal, EPFO, ESIC.
- Registration. GST registration is required once aggregate turnover passes ₹40 lakh for goods or ₹20 lakh for services (lower limits apply in some special category states). You may register voluntarily below that, and some businesses, such as inter-state suppliers of goods, must register whatever their turnover.
- Rates. Since 22 September 2025 most goods and services are taxed at 5% or 18%, with 40% for a short list of luxury and sin goods and some essentials at nil; the 12% and 28% slabs were withdrawn. 12% survives only for bricks and roofing tiles, and tobacco, the last goods at 28%, moved to 40% (biris 18%) on 1 February 2026. A new business in SimpleERP starts with nil, 5%, 18% and 40%; add the 12% slab in Settings → Taxes if you sell bricks.
- CGST, SGST or IGST. A sale inside your state carries CGST and SGST in equal halves; a sale to another state carries IGST. The place of supply decides which, and SimpleERP picks it from the customer's state.
- Tax invoices. Show your GSTIN, a serial number unique for the financial year, the date, the customer's GSTIN when registered, HSN or SAC codes, the taxable value, the rate and the tax by CGST, SGST or IGST, and the place of supply.
- Returns. GSTR-1 (sales) and GSTR-3B (summary and payment) are filed monthly, or quarterly under the QRMP scheme if turnover is up to ₹5 crore.
- E-invoicing. A business whose aggregate turnover has passed ₹5 crore in any year since 2017-18 must report B2B invoices to the Invoice Registration Portal and print the IRN and QR code. From 1 April 2025, businesses at ₹10 crore or more must report each invoice within 30 days of its date.

FAQ
Questions, answered
Do I need to be registered for GST to use SimpleERP?
No. Setup asks whether you are registered. Businesses above ₹40 lakh turnover (₹20 lakh for services) must register for GST. If that changes, switch it in Settings; your GSTIN prints on every invoice once you add it.
What does a SimpleERP tax invoice show?
Your business name and address, your GSTIN, the customer and the place of supply, a number from a sequence that never repeats, the date, each line with its GST rate and HSN/SAC code, the tax by rate and the amount in words. Your accountant can confirm what your business must show.
How much does SimpleERP cost in India?
Every module is free for 7 days with no card. After that Premium is ₹4,400 per user per month (₹52,800 per user per year), the fixed equivalent of USD 50, counted on the people who sign in. See pricing.
Does SimpleERP file my GST returns?
No. It keeps the records and gives you a tax summary by rate and the sales and purchase registers, all exportable to CSV, for whoever files your returns.
Does SimpleERP generate e-invoice IRNs and e-way bills?
Not yet. It does not connect to the Invoice Registration Portal or the e-way bill system. If your turnover has passed ₹5 crore, generate the IRN on the government portal or through your GST software, and use SimpleERP for the rest of the business.
Can I bill a customer in another state?
Yes. Pick the customer and SimpleERP reads their state: a sale inside your state carries CGST and SGST, a sale to another state carries IGST at the same total rate.
Where is my data stored?
In a PostgreSQL database on the hosted service, where row-level security keeps each business to its own rows. Ask us where the service is hosted and how it is backed up, and export your reports to CSV whenever you like.
