Textiles & garments

ERP software for textile and garment businesses

From fabric in metres to garments in pieces: bills of materials, stock by warehouse, HSN-coded GST invoices, seasonal buying and payroll for a large workforce, in one system.

In short

SimpleERP is ERP software for textile and garment businesses in India. Fabric-to-garment bills of materials cost each piece, work orders move stock, invoices carry HSN codes and the right GST, and payroll uses salary components for every worker.

A day in a textile and garment business

Textile work is measured in metres going in and pieces coming out, with seasons that decide everything.

In a garment unit in Tiruppur, the cutting master needs to know how many metres of fabric are left before he lays the next batch. The buyer for the festival season wants a quote by tomorrow, and the owner is not sure what one shirt really costs once buttons, thread, labels and wastage are counted.

Meanwhile the fabric supplier's bill has arrived, a return of faulty rolls is pending, and fifty workers need their salaries by the seventh with PF and professional tax deducted correctly. Each of those jobs usually lives in a different book.

SimpleERP connects them. A bill of materials says how many metres and trims go into one garment, a work order consumes the fabric and produces the pieces at actual cost, and the invoice, the supplier bill and the payroll run all post to the same ledger.

Manufacturing

Cost each garment from the fabric up

A bill of materials lists the fabric in metres, the trims in pieces and the cutting waste as a scrap percentage, plus stitching or job charges per batch, and rolls them up into a cost per piece.

  • Units that fit: metres for fabric, pieces or dozens for garments, kilograms for yarn.
  • Scrap per line for cutting waste, so planned fabric covers what is really used.
  • Additional cost per batch for stitching, washing or packing labour.
  • Versions for a changed pattern or size set; old work orders keep their plan.

Inventory

Fabric, trims and finished pieces in one stock ledger

Stock is kept per product and warehouse at weighted average cost, so the fabric store, the stitching floor and the finished-goods godown each show what they hold.

  • Work orders take fabric out of one warehouse and put garments into another.
  • Transfers record fabric moving from the store to the cutting floor.
  • Each size or colour you track separately is its own product with its own stock.
  • Low stock list flags trims before a batch stops for want of buttons.

GST billing

HSN codes and the right GST on every line

Each product carries its own HSN code and GST rate, so a single invoice can mix fabric and garments at different rates, with CGST and SGST or IGST chosen from the place of supply.

  • HSN-wise summary on the invoice print and in the HSN summary report.
  • Sales register with taxable value, CGST, SGST and IGST per invoice for your GSTR-1 checks.
  • Rates live in settings, so when a rate changes you edit it once, not on every bill.

Purchase

Seasonal buying without losing track of what you owe

Raise purchase orders for the season, receive fabric against the supplier's bill at its cost, and send faulty rolls back with a debit note that takes them out of stock and off what you owe.

  • Purchase orders with expected delivery dates and a receiving warehouse.
  • Supplier bills update the average cost of fabric as it arrives.
  • Payables ageing shows which supplier is due this week.
  • Purchase register for your GSTR-2B checks.

People and payroll

Salaries for a large workforce, from one review screen

Give each worker a salary structure once, mark attendance daily, and the monthly payroll run generates every payslip with Basic, HRA, allowances, PF, PT and TDS from paid days.

  • Attendance for the floor in one screen, or self check-in from a phone.
  • Loss of pay comes from attendance and leave, not from a spreadsheet.
  • Advances given in the season are recovered over the next payslips.
  • Expense claims from staff for travel or samples, approved and reimbursed.

Ready on day one

What you don't have to set up

The accounts, taxes and units are seeded, so day one is about your fabrics and styles.

  • Units including metres, kilograms, pieces, dozens and sets.
  • GST rates split into CGST, SGST and IGST, editable in settings.
  • Salary components for Basic, HRA, conveyance, PF, PT and TDS.
  • A default shift with grace minutes, and leave types to edit.
  • Accounts for stock, cost of goods sold and manufacturing overhead.

Honest limits

What SimpleERP does not do for textiles yet

Textile businesses often ask about these. None of them are in the product today.

  • Lot, roll, dye-lot or batch tracking. Stock is by product and warehouse only.
  • A size and colour matrix. Each size or colour you track is a separate product.
  • Job-work challans for fabric sent out for dyeing, printing or stitching.
  • Piece-rate wages. Payroll is a monthly salary with components.
  • E-way bill or e-invoice (IRN) generation through the government APIs.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Which GST rate applies to fabric and garments?

GST on textiles depends on the HSN code and, for some garments, on the sale value per piece, and the rates have been revised more than once. SimpleERP applies whatever rate you set on each product, so keep those rates current. Rates change, so confirm the rate for your goods with your CA or the GST portal before you rely on it.

Can I track fabric in metres and sell garments in pieces?

Yes. Each product has its own unit. The bill of materials says how many metres of fabric go into one garment, and the work order converts one into the other at actual cost.

Can I track dye lots or rolls?

No. SimpleERP has no lot or batch tracking. If you need to trace a garment back to a specific roll or dye lot, it is not the right fit yet.

How do I handle fabric sent to a job worker for stitching?

There are no job-work challans yet. A common approach is a stock transfer to a warehouse named for the job worker, with their bill entered as a purchase or as additional cost on the work order. Ask your CA how to report it for GST.

Can it pay a large number of workers each month?

Yes. There is no limit on employees or team members, payroll runs generate every payslip at once from salary structures and attendance, and you review, approve and pay in one flow. Piece-rate pay is not supported.
