  • A January to December financial year. Numbering runs per year: the first invoice is INV-2026-0001.
  • Payroll components ready. Basic salary, Allowances, Bonus, CPF (employee, citizens & PRs), Self-help group fund, Other deductions, CPF (employer, citizens & PRs) and Skills Development Levy.

GST in Singapore

GST in Singapore: what you need to know

The rules the product is set up around, in plain words. Your accountant confirms what applies to you. Sources: IRAS: Do I need to register for GST, IRAS: Invoicing customers, IRAS: GST InvoiceNow requirement, CPF Board: contribution rates.

  • Rate. GST is 9% on most goods and services. Exports and international services are zero-rated; financial services and the sale or lease of residential property are exempt.
  • Registration. Registration is compulsory once your taxable turnover passes S$1 million in a calendar year, or when you expect it to in the next 12 months. Below that you may register voluntarily.
  • Tax invoices. Only a GST-registered business may issue a tax invoice. It shows the words "Tax Invoice", your name, address and GST registration number, an invoice number and date, the customer's name and address, a description of what you supplied and the GST rate and amount. SimpleERP prints "Tax Invoice" once you are registered and "Invoice" before that.
  • Returns. GST returns (GST F5) are usually filed every quarter, within one month after the quarter ends.
  • InvoiceNow. IRAS is phasing in the GST InvoiceNow requirement: new voluntary registrants from 1 April 2026, new compulsory registrants and existing businesses with supplies up to S$200,000 from 1 April 2028, then larger businesses in steps until 1 April 2031.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Do I need to be registered for GST to use SimpleERP?

No. Setup asks whether you are registered. GST registration is compulsory once your taxable turnover passes S$1 million in a calendar year, or is expected to in the next 12 months. Below that you may register voluntarily. If that changes, switch it in Settings; your GST reg. number prints on every invoice once you add it.

What does a SimpleERP tax invoice show?

Your business name and address, your GST reg. number, the customer, a number from a sequence that never repeats, the date, each line with its GST rate, the tax by rate and the amount in words. Your accountant can confirm what your business must show.

How much does SimpleERP cost in Singapore?

Every module is free for 7 days with no card. After that Premium is S$65 per user per month (S$780 per user per year), the fixed equivalent of USD 50, counted on the people who sign in. See pricing.

Does SimpleERP file my GST returns?

No. It keeps the records and gives you a tax summary by rate and the sales and purchase registers, all exportable to CSV, for whoever files your returns.

Can I send invoices through InvoiceNow from SimpleERP?

Not yet. SimpleERP prints and shares PDF invoices but is not an InvoiceNow (Peppol) access point. If the GST InvoiceNow requirement applies to you, you need a solution that transmits invoice data to IRAS.

Does SimpleERP work out CPF by age band?

No. It seeds the rates for employees aged 55 and below. For older employees, or pay above the wage ceiling, change the CPF lines on that employee's salary structure.

Where is my data stored?

In a PostgreSQL database on the hosted service, where row-level security keeps each business to its own rows. Ask us where the service is hosted and how it is backed up, and export your reports to CSV whenever you like.
