What you get on day one

Pick Australia when you create the business. Everything below is seeded for you and editable in Settings.

  • GST rates seeded. GST 10% and GST-free, with GST 10% as the default.
  • Tax Invoice with your ABN. The ABN is checked for format when you enter it and printed on every invoice.
  • AUD amounts, DD/MM/YYYY dates. A total prints as A$1,250,000.00, in words as dollars and cents.
  • A July to June financial year. Numbering runs per year: the first invoice is INV-2026-27-0001.
  • Payroll components ready. Salary, Bonus, PAYG withholding and Superannuation.
  • Phones with +61. Customer, supplier and employee numbers take the +61 format; you and your team sign in with your email.

GST in Australia

GST in Australia: what you need to know

The rules the product is set up around, in plain words. Your accountant confirms what applies to you. Sources: ATO: Registering for GST, ATO: Tax invoices, ATO: How Payday Super works.

  • Registration. You must register for GST once your GST turnover reaches A$75,000 a year (A$150,000 for non-profits), counted on the last 12 months or the next 12. Below that registration is voluntary; taxi and ride-sourcing drivers register whatever their turnover.
  • Rate. GST is 10%. Most basic food, some health and education services and exports are GST-free.
  • Tax invoices. If a customer asks for a tax invoice you must give one within 28 days, unless the sale is A$82.50 or less including GST. It shows your ABN, the date, what you sold and the GST, and for sales of A$1,000 or more the buyer's identity or ABN.
  • BAS. You report GST on your business activity statement: quarterly for most small businesses, monthly once GST turnover reaches A$20 million, and you may choose annual reporting if you registered voluntarily.
  • GST credits. You claim back the GST in the price of business purchases on your BAS, and you need a tax invoice to claim purchases over A$82.50.

  • Super guarantee seeded at 12% as an employer contribution. From 1 July 2026 Payday Super applies: super is paid with each pay run and must reach the fund within 7 business days
  • PAYG withholding depends on each employee's TFN declaration and the ATO tax tables: you enter it per run
  • Pay is reported to the ATO through Single Touch Payroll from STP-enabled payroll software
  • Attendance and leave feed paid days
  • Payslips in employee self-service

FAQ

Questions, answered

Do I need to be registered for GST to use SimpleERP?

No. Setup asks whether you are registered. You must register for GST once your GST turnover reaches A$75,000 a year. If that changes, switch it in Settings; your ABN prints on every invoice once you add it.

What does a SimpleERP tax invoice show?

Your business name and address, your ABN, the customer, a number from a sequence that never repeats, the date, each line with its GST rate, the tax by rate and the amount in words. Your accountant can confirm what your business must show.

How much does SimpleERP cost in Australia?

Every module is free for 7 days with no card. After that Premium is A$75 per user per month (A$900 per user per year), the fixed equivalent of USD 50, counted on the people who sign in. See pricing.

Does SimpleERP file my GST returns?

No. It keeps the records and gives you a tax summary by rate and the sales and purchase registers, all exportable to CSV, for whoever files your returns.

Can I lodge my BAS from SimpleERP?

Not today. SimpleERP keeps the records and gives you GST collected and GST credits by rate, exportable to CSV, for whoever lodges your BAS through ATO online services or their own software.

Is SimpleERP Single Touch Payroll enabled?

No. SimpleERP runs payroll, payslips and the journals, but does not report to the ATO through STP or pay super through a clearing house. Use STP-enabled software or your accountant for those.

Where is my data stored?

In a PostgreSQL database on the hosted service, where row-level security keeps each business to its own rows. Ask us where the service is hosted and how it is backed up, and export your reports to CSV whenever you like.
