GST billing software for garment and clothing shops
Bill a saree to a walk-in buyer and 300 school uniform sets to a school from the same screen, with the HSN on each line and the rate that fits the price of each piece.
In short
SimpleERP is GST billing software for garment and clothing shops in India. Each line carries the HSN of the piece and the rate set on the product, place of supply picks CGST and SGST or IGST, and exchanges go on a credit note.

A GST billing day at Awadh Dress House
On a Saturday in the wedding season, the two counters at Awadh Dress House in Aminabad raise close to two hundred bills. Most are small: a chikan kurti, two pairs of kids wear leggings, a cotton saree for a grandmother. A few are large, like a family buying eleven sarees and four sherwanis for one wedding.
On Monday the accountant has a different kind of bill to raise: 120 shirts and 120 trousers as staff uniform for a hotel in Delhi, which needs the hotel's GSTIN, IGST and an HSN summary its accounts team will check line by line.
Which rate goes on a kurti that sells above the limit?
For garments the GST rate depends on the sale value of each piece, and the limits changed in September 2025. In SimpleERP the rate sits on the product, chosen for its usual selling price. When a piece sells on the other side of the limit, the salesman changes the rate on that line and the bill recalculates.
- A rate changed by hand stays changed on the draft, even if the customer is switched.
- Sarees billed as fabric under chapters 50 to 55 carry their own HSN and rate.
- The HSN summary prints under the lines and groups every piece by code.
| Piece | HSN | Usual price | Rate rule after September 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chikan kurti, cotton, M | 6206 | ₹1,450 | Commonly 5% at or below ₹2,500 a piece |
| Men's linen shirt, 40 | 6205 | ₹2,890 | Commonly 18% above ₹2,500 a piece |
| Kids wear frock, knitted, 4 to 5 years | 6111 | ₹690 | Commonly 5% at or below ₹2,500 a piece |
| Banarasi silk saree | 5007 | ₹8,500 | Taxed as silk fabric, not by piece value |
| School uniform shirt, white, 32 | 6205 | ₹380 | Commonly 5% at or below ₹2,500 a piece |
What does a uniform order for a hotel in Delhi add up to?
The hotel's GSTIN starts with 07, so the bill from Lucknow carries IGST. Taking the pieces at 5% because each sells well below the limit: 120 shirts at ₹650 come to ₹78,000 and 120 trousers at ₹850 to ₹1,02,000, so the taxable value is ₹1,80,000, IGST is ₹9,000 and the bill totals ₹1,89,000. Rates change, so confirm the rate for your goods with your CA or the GST portal before you rely on it.
- Ship to a different address from the head office in the GSTIN, with place of supply changed before you post.
- Due date from the payment terms you set on the hotel, such as 30 days.
- Bill in parts from a sales order when the trousers arrive a week after the shirts.

How is an exchange or a return billed?
Open the original bill and raise a credit note for the piece that came back. The piece returns to stock at the shop that takes it, and the GST on it is reversed. Bill the new size as usual and apply the credit note to it, so the customer pays only the difference.
- A credit note cannot exceed what was billed for that piece.
- Refund in cash or UPI when the customer does not want another piece.
- Both documents stay linked, so the sales register shows the sale and the return.
Can the counter keep up on a festival Saturday?
The editor is built for the keyboard. Type kurti chik m, Enter, the quantity, Enter, and the next line is ready. Each bill prints on A4 with your bank details and a UPI QR the customer can scan at the cash desk.
- Counter sale as one customer for every walk-in buyer who does not give a GSTIN.
- Cash, UPI or card recorded on the bill, so the day's collection is known by mode.
- Sales register and HSN summary export to CSV for whoever prepares your returns.

What SimpleERP does not do yet
- E-invoice IRN and QR code, and e-way bills, are not generated through the government APIs
- Cess is not calculated; GST return filing stays with you or your accountant
- No price lists: every line is priced as you bill it
- The rate does not switch by itself when a piece crosses the price limit; it is set on the product and changed on the line
- No receipt printer or POS screen: counter bills print on A4

FAQ
Questions, answered
A customer bought three kurtis at ₹2,200 and a shirt at ₹3,100. Do I need two bills?
No. One bill can carry different rates line by line. The kurtis keep the lower rate on their product, the shirt keeps the higher one on its own, and the tax summary shows both rates separately on the same print.
If I give a discount that takes a shirt below the limit, which rate applies?
The rate follows the value the piece is actually sold at, after the discount on the bill. Give the line discount, then change the rate on that line if the piece has crossed the limit. Rates change, so confirm the rate for your goods with your CA or the GST portal before you rely on it.
A school without a GSTIN ordered uniforms. Is it still a B2B bill?
Add the school as a customer with its address and no GSTIN, and the bill goes out as a sale to an unregistered buyer. If the school gives a GSTIN later, add it to the customer and later bills print it. Ask your CA how the order should be reported.
Can each shop print its own address on its bills?
Yes. Each shop is a branch with its own address, and bills raised under a branch print that address. Both shops share one numbering series, such as INV-2026-27-0412, on the April to March year.
