Inventory software for interior and fit-out contractors

See how many sheets of plywood and laminate sit in the store and at each site, move leftovers to the next job, and buy hardware before the carpenters run out.

In short

SimpleERP is inventory software for interior and fit-out contractors. Plywood, laminates and hardware are bought into a store or a site warehouse, moved between sites by stock transfer and valued at weighted average cost, with reorder levels showing what is running low.

An inventory day at Nila Interiors

Joby, the store keeper at Nila Interiors, opens the Vyttila store at eight. A dealer truck brings 40 sheets of 18 mm BWP plywood and 60 laminate sheets, the Edappally site supervisor wants 12 of those sheets by noon, and the Kadavanthra villa has six sheets left over from its wardrobes that nobody has counted.

Without a record, the store buys fresh plywood while sheets lie unused at another site, and soft-close hinges run out the day the carpenters start the modular kitchen. The cost of a sheet also drifts as dealers change their rates.

With SimpleERP the store and each running site are warehouses. The dealer's bill puts stock into the store, a transfer sends sheets to Edappally, and the Kadavanthra leftovers are moved back on record.

How do I see what material is lying at each site?

Create a warehouse for the store and one for every site you are fitting out. Stock on hand is then a list by warehouse, with quantity and value, so the supervisor's phone call becomes a check on the screen.

  • Stock transfers move sheets or hardware from the store to a site, or from one site to another, at average cost.
  • Stock history shows every bill, transfer and adjustment that touched an item.

How does material get into stock at the right cost?

A purchase order goes to the plywood or hardware dealer with a deliver-to warehouse, and the supplier bill receives the stock there. Each bill re-blends the weighted average cost, so a sheet bought at ₹2,850 after a batch at ₹2,700 moves the average, not just the latest price.

  • Attach the dealer's bill as a photo or PDF in the Files tab of the purchase bill.
  • Input GST is recorded from the same bill, split by the dealer's state.
  • A warning before receiving at ₹0, which would drag the average cost down.

What about material used inside a works contract?

When plywood and hardware disappear into a wardrobe billed as a works line, they never appear on the invoice as goods. Record what was used as a stock adjustment from that site's warehouse with a reason, and the site shows what is really left.

  • Material billed as its own line leaves stock on the invoice, from the warehouse you pick.
  • Offcuts and breakage go in as adjustments with a reason, posted to the books.
  • A physical count at handover settles each site before its warehouse is closed.

How do I avoid running out of hinges mid-job?

Set a reorder level on hardware and laminates you always need, and anything at or below it shows on the low-stock list in the inventory screen. You decide what to order and from whom.

  • Check stock by warehouse to see whether a site already has what the store is short of.
  • Export the stock list to CSV for the dealer or your own planning sheet.

Getting started

Start with inventory

  1. Sign up with your phone

Name, phone number and a password. No card for the seven-day trial, and email is optional.

  2. Tell us about the business

Type your GSTIN and the state fills itself. Accounts, GST rates, units, roles and numbering are seeded for you.

  3. Add products and opening stock

Import plywood, laminates and hardware from a CSV file, add a Sheet unit, and enter opening stock for the store and each running site.

  4. Post a bill and an invoice

Stock rises on the purchase bill and falls on the invoice, at weighted average cost, with nothing to count by hand.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can I track plywood by sheet and laminate by sheet as well?

Yes. Add a Sheet unit in settings and use it on both. Pieces, metres, boxes and sets come seeded; square feet can be added the same way if that is how you buy.

Can I see which site used the most plywood last month?

Each site warehouse has its own stock history, so you can see what went in, what was transferred and what was adjusted out. A ready-made consumption report per project is not available.

Do laminate shades need separate items?

Yes. There are no variants, so each shade or finish you stock is its own item with its own code. Many studios stock only their regular shades and buy special ones per job.

Can the site supervisor see stock at their own site?

Give the supervisor a login with an inventory role, copied and trimmed from the Purchase and Inventory role, and they can look up stock from a phone browser.
