GST billing software for fabrication shops
Quotations at a rate per kg, sheds billed lot by lot as each lorry crosses the weighbridge, tanks and frames billed as finished items, and the tax read from where the site is.
In short
SimpleERP is GST billing software for fabrication shops in India. A structural fabricator quotes per kg, converts the quotation into a sales order, and bills each lot from the weighbridge slip with HSN and CGST, SGST or IGST on every line.

A GST billing day at Shree Umiya Fabricators
Shree Umiya Fabricators builds industrial sheds, mezzanine platforms, MS storage tanks and conveyor frames in Rajkot, mostly for factories in Shapar-Veraval and Metoda GIDC and for ceramic units in Morbi. A shed job is weighed and billed by the kilogram; a tank or a conveyor frame is billed as one finished item.
Billing is where weight turns into money. The truss sections go on a lorry over the weighbridge, the slip says 7,840 kg, and the invoice has to match the weight on the slip and the rate per kg in the quotation. Erection at site is a separate charge, and a Morbi customer may want the shed billed in parts as the columns and then the roof go up.
SimpleERP starts the job with a quotation at a rate per kg, converts it into a sales order when the customer's purchase order arrives, and bills it in parts as each lot leaves on its weighbridge slip. Every invoice carries HSN on each line and works out CGST and SGST for a Gujarat site, or IGST for a site in Rajasthan or Maharashtra.
Can I bill a shed by the kilogram from the weighbridge slip?
Yes. Structural steel is a product sold in kg, so the invoice line reads 7,840 kg at ₹96. Type the weighbridge slip number and the lorry number into the notes, and the white A4 print carries both alongside the HSN summary and your UPI QR.
- Rate per kg from the quotation, carried into the order and every invoice against it
- Tanks and frames in Nos on the same invoice as steel in kg
- Erection as a service line with its own SAC, priced separately

How is one shed order billed in parts?
The order for 18,500 kg at ₹96 per kg comes to ₹17,76,000 before tax. The first invoice for 7,840 kg is ₹7,52,640, and the sales order then shows 10,660 kg left to bill, so the second and third lots cannot quietly go over or under the agreed weight.
- Ordered, invoiced and remaining on every sales order line
- Revise, don't overwrite: a sent quotation is frozen and a revision becomes a new draft
- Expiry date on each quotation, shown as expired once it passes
Which HSN or SAC codes does a fabrication invoice carry?
Most of the shop's output falls under a handful of steel headings; erection and job work are services with their own codes. Set each one on the product and the invoice applies it.
- HSN-wise summary on the print and as a report for the GSTR-1 HSN table
- Place of supply from the site address, so a Rajasthan site gets IGST
| Line | HSN or SAC | Usual rate |
|---|---|---|
| Structures and parts: sheds, trusses, platforms, columns | 7308 | Usually 18% |
| Tanks of iron or steel over 300 litres | 7309 | Usually 18% |
| Other steel articles: brackets, base plates, railings | 7326 | Usually 18% |
| Conveyors and their parts | 8428 | Usually 18% |
| Erection and installation at site | Depends on the contract | Confirm with your CA |
| Job work on a customer's own steel | 9988 | Depends on the goods; confirm |
What if the customer changes the drawing after the quotation?
Revise the quotation. The sent version stays frozen with its weight and rate, and the revision starts as a new draft with the extra ISMB beam or the heavier chequered plate. When the customer accepts it, that revision becomes the sales order, and the earlier one stays on record if the price is ever disputed.
- Every revision kept with its date and lines
- Accepted quotation to order or invoice without retyping a line

What a fabrication invoice sets off
Each lot invoice issues the finished steel, books its cost and the GST, and raises the customer's balance against the sales order.

Honest limits
What SimpleERP does not do yet
- E-invoice IRN and QR code, and e-way bills, are not generated through the government APIs
- Cess is not calculated; GST return filing stays with you or your accountant
- No price lists: every line is priced as you bill it
- Weighbridge readings are typed in; there is no link to the weighbridge
- Running account bills with measurement sheets are not supported; bill each lot as an invoice against the sales order

FAQ
Questions, answered
Can steel by the kg and a tank by the piece go on one invoice?
Yes. Each product carries its own unit, HSN and rate, so 7,840 kg of truss sections at a rate per kg and one MS storage tank at a fixed price sit on the same invoice. The HSN summary at the foot totals each heading separately.
Can I bill erection separately from the steel?
Yes. Add erection as a service product with its SAC and rate, then put it on the same invoice as the steel or on its own invoice once the shed is up. Ask your CA which code and rate fit your contract before you set them.
The customer is in Morbi but the site is in Rajasthan. Which tax applies?
SimpleERP takes the place of supply from the shipping address, then the billing address. With a Rajasthan site as the shipping address the lines carry IGST; with a Morbi address they split into CGST and SGST. Your CA can confirm which address applies to your contract.
Can the weighbridge slip number print on the invoice?
Yes. Type the slip number, the gross and tare weights if you want them, and the lorry number into the invoice notes. They print on the A4 copy, and the net weight goes on the line as the quantity in kg.
