SimpleERP vs myBillBook: a myBillBook alternative for small business
myBillBook is a mobile-first GST billing app for small shops and traders. SimpleERP is a complete ERP that also works on a phone. Here is how to tell which one your business needs.
In short
SimpleERP is ERP software for Indian small businesses that grows past billing: purchase, stock, double-entry books, CRM, HR and payroll on one ledger, with a login for every team member. myBillBook suits a small business that mainly needs quick GST bills from a phone.

What myBillBook is good at
myBillBook is GST billing software built mobile-first for small shops, traders and service businesses. For an owner who wants to send a proper GST bill from a phone in a minute, that focus is its strength.
- Quick GST bills from a phone. Built around the owner raising and sharing bills on the move.
- Easy to start. Made for owners who have never used accounting software.
- Daily sales at a glance. Bills, parties and what is due close at hand.
- Light to run. A billing tool rather than a full set of books to manage.

Where the fit breaks: the jobs, side by side
The same daily jobs, described as work rather than features. The myBillBook column says how businesses on myBillBook usually get each job done, which depends on the edition, add-ons and setup you choose.
| Job | In SimpleERP | Typical with myBillBook |
|---|---|---|
| Raise a GST invoice | Keyboard-first on a desktop, touch-friendly on a phone; place of supply picks the tax | A natural fit: quick GST billing from a phone is the core job |
| Double-entry books | Every document posts a balanced journal; trial balance, P&L and balance sheet any day | Profit and loss and balance sheet reports in the app; many shops still have the accountant keep the final books |
| Close a month | A lock date the database enforces; reopening needs approval and is logged | Usually handled by the accountant in a separate accounting tool |
| Purchase orders and supplier bills | POs to bills with stock received at cost and payables tracked | Depends on the plan and how you record purchases |
| Stock across warehouses | Stock by warehouse at weighted average cost, with transfers and a movement ledger | Depends on the plan; many shops track stock in one place |
| Several people billing at once | Every member has their own login and role | Depends on the plan and how devices are shared |
| Payroll with PF, PT and TDS | Salary structures, monthly runs and payslips posted to the books | Staff attendance, salary dues and payslips on higher plans |
| Leads and follow-ups | CRM pipeline and today's follow-ups on the same customer list | Usually handled in chat or a notebook |
| E-invoice, e-way bill and GST filing | Registers and HSN summary export; no IRN, e-way bill or filing | E-invoices and e-way bills, plus GSTR-1, GSTR-2 and GSTR-3B reports to share with your CA |
| Make goods from components | BOMs and work orders that consume and produce stock | Usually handled outside the billing app |

What SimpleERP does not do yet
Worth knowing before you switch.
- GST return filing: registers and the HSN summary export to CSV for whoever files your returns
- E-invoice IRN and e-way bill generation through the government APIs
- Batch, lot, serial or expiry tracking, and multi-currency
- Bank feeds: bank entries are recorded and reconciled by hand
- Historical vouchers are not imported; the old system stays your archive
Getting started
Moving from myBillBook to SimpleERP
Pick a cut-over date
Pick the day you stop billing in myBillBook, and start SimpleERP from opening balances on that date. Pick the first day of a financial year, quarter or month; 1 April is best.
Import your masters
Tally Masters XML, Zoho exports or spreadsheets, checked before anything is written: accounts, customers, suppliers and products with opening stock per warehouse. See the help centre.
Bring balances and open bills
Import opening balances for bank, cash, loans and the rest, and each unpaid invoice and bill with its own number and due date. A wrong import can be undone.
Run both for a month
Bill in SimpleERP and keep the old books open. Compare receivables, stock and the trial balance at month end, then set the lock date.
FAQ
Questions, answered
Is SimpleERP a myBillBook alternative?
It is an alternative when you have outgrown billing alone. SimpleERP raises GST bills like a billing app, and it also keeps double-entry books, purchase, stock by warehouse, CRM, HR and payroll on one ledger. For a single shop that only needs quick bills, myBillBook may be simpler.
Can I bill from my phone in SimpleERP?
Yes. SimpleERP is a web app and every screen works on a 360 px phone, with nothing to install. Invoices, payments, attendance, leave and expense claims are designed to be done from a phone, and the same login works on a desktop with a keyboard-first line editor.
Can I move my products and parties from myBillBook?
Products, yes: import them by CSV with a dry run, including opening stock per warehouse. Customers and suppliers are added on screen today, and the opening balances wizard brings in what they owe you and what you owe them on your switch date.
Does SimpleERP file GST returns?
No. SimpleERP prepares what filing needs: the sales and purchase registers for GSTR-1 and GSTR-2B checks and the HSN summary, all exportable to CSV. Filing itself stays with you or your accountant on the GST portal. E-invoice IRNs and e-way bills are not generated through the government APIs today.
